Does Parlin work on my Mac?
Parlin needs an M1 or later Mac on macOS 14.6 or newer. Intel Macs are not supported.
Why does the emoji picker pop up when I hold Fn?
On a Mac the Fn key is also the Globe key, and macOS gives it its own job by default. Set it to do nothing: System Settings, then Keyboard, then “Press 🌐 key to”, then pick “Do Nothing”. Now holding Fn only talks to Parlin.
Why does Parlin ask for Accessibility permission?
Push-to-talk needs it to paste into other apps. System Settings, then Privacy & Security, then Accessibility, then toggle Parlin on.
Why does Parlin ask for Microphone permission?
Parlin needs it to hear you. System Settings, then Privacy & Security, then Microphone, then toggle Parlin on.
Dictation does nothing. What's wrong?
Parlin fetches its speech engine (Parakeet for English and 24 European languages, Whisper for the rest) on first launch. If transcription does nothing, open the Settings sidebar, then Speech to text, pick a model, and wait for the download.
Why is my dictated text not getting cleaned up?
The first time you launch the app it fetches a small language model so cleanup can run on-device. If that download failed (no internet, blocked by a firewall), dictation still works but cleanup falls back to raw text. Settings sidebar, then Cleanup, then Retry download.
